The Micro and Nanoengineering in Stem Cell InnovationsLaboratoryin the Department of Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a PhD student with motivation, ingenuity, and ability to work in a diverse, highly dynamic environment for Spring 2013.
Research: The lab research focuses on delineation of cell-matrix interactions by engineering defined micro and nanoscale systems and applying the mechanistic understanding to regenerative medicine and drug discovery. Currently, the lab is devoted to cancer diagnosis and treatment and Alzheimer's diseases (supported by National Science Foundation). The prospective student will research in the field of Biomedical Engineering, in particular, nanobiotechnology. The student will receive extensive training in micro-/nanofabrication and molecular/cellular biology and work closely with researchers in Health Science Center at WVU. Qualification: The prospective student should have a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineeringor Polymer Science at least. Applicants with experience in polymer and cell biology will be favorably considered.
Offer: The research assistantship, which the student will be awarded, is US$28,000 next year and will be increased to $30,000 afterwards, plus the tuition waived.
Location: West Virginia University is located in Morgantown, West Virginia. Morgantown is one of the best small cities in the country, noted for its strong economy and quality of life (http://www.morgantownwv.gov/).
