On June 10, 2023, four PhD students of the group, Shifen Li, Bedo Wang, Zeyuan Jin, and Qiaoxuan Wang, went to Portsmouth, USA, to attend the 14th International Symposium on Frontiers in Biomedical Polymers in Portsmouth, hosted by the University of Tufts, for five days.
At the conference, Prof. Gao gave an invited presentation on bio-adaptive tissue implantation, introducing the latest research results of his group on heart attack, lung injury, nerve injury and so on. Prof. Gao patiently answered the questions from the scholars who paid attention to the presentation and had a warm discussion.

Participating students also presented their latest results in the form of poster presentations. PhD. Shifen Li, Bedo Wang, Zeyuan Jin, and Qiaoxuan Wang shared their presentations and discussions with the graduate students from different countries, and shared their latest research results with them.

Through this participation, the latest research progress of the group in the field of biomaterials was comprehensively publicized, and every student gained a lot. They practiced their English communication skills, saw the latest advances in the field of biomaterials, visited the campuses of famous universities in the eastern part of the United States, and experienced the culinary culture and local customs of the United States.
