Welcome to join our Nanopolymer group as a postdoctoral research fellow and Ph.D. candidate from any country and districts!

Prof. Chao Gao received his Ph.D. in Nov. 2001, and joined the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University since Feb. 2008, and became a full professor in July 2008. From Nov. 2003 to Aug. 2006, he ever worked with Prof. Sir Harold W. Kroto (University of Sussex, UK), Prof. Toru Maekawa (Toyo University, Japan), and Axel H. E. Müller (Bayreuth University, Germany) as a visiting scholar, postdoctoral researcher and Research Fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He published more than 60 papers, and the papers have been cited by other researchers more than 1500 times. He received the second class award of National Natual Science in 2009, first class award of Natural Sciences in Shanghai in 2007, and the award of Top 100 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China in 2005.

Research interests:

I. Organic nanomolecules

1.       Macromolecular brushes (e.g., dendritic polymer brushes, cylindrical polymer brushes, sheet brushes, and core-crosslinked brushes, etc.): synthesis, properties, and biomimetic applications

2.       Hyperbranched and other dendritic macromolecules: from synthesis to applications

3.       Multiblock copolymers: synthesis and self-assembly.

II. Cyclodextrin-based supramolecular polymer

III. Organic-inorganic nanohybrids (e.g., carbon nanotubes, graphene, quantum dots, iron oxide and metalic nanocrystals, etc.)

IV. Bio-nano chemistry, materials and devices

V. Living/controlled polymerization and click chemistry
